PIANC – The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure

PIANC is one of the oldest global technical and scientific associations for port and waterway construction and maritime and inland waterborne transport including recreational boating and boating sports.
The German PIANC section takes care of all matters pertaining to its German members and provides a channel to the PIANC General Secretariat in Brussels. PIANC currently has some 160 individual members and 14 corporate members in Germany.

The objective of the association is to promote the development of:

• inland waterways and maritime canals

• inland ports and seaports

• coastal protection and ocean engineering

during the different stages of design, extension, new construction, operation and maintenance taking account of environmental, economic and transport-related aspects.
